In 1999, UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) designated March 21 as World Poetry Day with the aim of celebrating one of humanity's most treasurd forms of cultural and linguistic expression and identity.
We've created and used this worksheet to help students be aware of why poetry matters and to encourage them to read and enjoy a poem in English.
